How a booking is arranged, from your first message to her knock
Nothing here is automated. You write to Iris, she writes back with a name, a figure and a time, one detail is checked, and a companion arrives at the hour you agreed.
The one thing to understand first is the travel. These are outer postcodes and the journeys are real, so the more warning Iris has, the wider the choice.
From one message to the door
Say where you are and when
The road or the hotel, the date, the hour and how long: four things in one message. At Heathrow, give the flight number rather than a landing time.
Stop 01 of 05Pick a name, or describe the evening
Choose somebody from On The Route, or tell Iris what you are after: talkative or quiet, dinner out or an evening in. She will come back with two or three names and a reason for each.
Stop 02 of 05One reply with everything in it
Back comes the companion, the figure from the rate ladder and a realistic arrival time that accounts for the journey out to you.
Stop 03 of 05A single check, in writing
Before she leaves, Iris has in writing the full name the room is held under, the hotel and the room number, so she knows who she is meeting and where. At a private address it is the street and the door number. It happens once and nothing is kept beyond the booking.
Stop 04 of 05She arrives
Dressed for whatever you told Iris the evening was. The fee is handed to her in person when she arrives, quietly, and then it is simply an evening.
Stop 05 of 05Hello, I would like to book [name] on [date] at [time] for [duration]. I am staying at [hotel name], and will share the room number on confirmation.
How much notice is useful
An hour or two is often enough near a station. Cranford and the Bath Road are car journeys of forty minutes or so, and between four and seven the Bath Road barely moves.
Meeting somewhere that is not your room
Plenty of evenings here start in a restaurant, a theatre bar on Grange Road or at a park gate, and a lobby or a hotel bar is just as normal at the airport end. Name the place and the time and she will be there. If the plan involves a table, book it yourself and tell Iris where it is.
When plans move
Send a message as soon as you know and the booking is rebuilt rather than lost. Three hours of notice or more and a change costs nothing, set out in full on the rates page. If she is delayed at her end, you are told at once with a real new time.
Booking, asked and answered
Q.01Can I book for the same evening?
Often, yes, particularly near a station or on the Elizabeth line at Hayes. The airport edge and Cranford need more warning because the journey is by road.
Q.02Do I have to choose a companion myself?
Not at all. Describe the evening instead and Iris will suggest two or three names that fit it, which is how a good many guests book.
Q.03What if I am at a private address rather than a hotel?
That is the majority of bookings in these postcodes. The check becomes the street and the door number and everything else works exactly the same way.
Q.04How soon can she be with me?
Near a station, often inside the hour. At the airport or Cranford, longer, because the arrival time you are given accounts for the journey honestly.
Q.05Is there a written confirmation?
Yes. Before she sets off you have the name, the figure, the length and the arrival time in a message. Nothing is agreed on the doorstep and nothing changes between the confirmation and her arrival.
