Notice 02 Isleworth

The town centre and the streets behind it

Hounslow Central is TW3: a high street with a cinema on it, a park five minutes north and the town centre beds on Lampton Road. Hounslow West picks up TW4 and TW5, the heath, the Heston hotels and the residential roads that make up most of this borough.

The river, from Isleworth down to Twickenham

Isleworth is a village where a street ends at the Thames and the tide comes over the road. Brentford is a canal meeting a river, with a stadium at one end and two odd museums at the other. Twickenham has the best of the water, an octagon room in a wood and a white gothic castle.

South and west of the Crane

Whitton is TW2: one high street, one station, and a shot tower hidden in a nature reserve. Feltham covers TW13 and TW14, flat and quiet, with two hundred acres of lakes at one edge and an old aerodrome at the other.

The green bit in the middle

Osterley is the page for anybody who does not believe there is countryside three minutes from a Piccadilly line platform. A National Trust estate at one end of the walk, six lanes of the Great West Road at the other.

The airport edge

Hatton Cross is the gateway station, four minutes from the central terminals. Heathrow itself takes the terminals one at a time and separates them from the Bath Road. Cranford is the old village the airport grew around, with no station of its own. Hayes is UB3 and UB4, on the Elizabeth line.

If your address is not one of these twelve, ask anyway. Richmond, Ealing, Staines and the Slough side are all reachable and the answer is usually yes, with the travel worked out and quoted before you agree to anything.
