Privacy: the little that is kept, and the reasons for it
A booking needs a small number of facts and none of them is interesting to anybody but the two people in it. This page says what those facts are, why they exist and when they go.
We are the controller of that information for the purposes of UK data protection law, and anything below can be asked about by writing to the same line you would use to book.
What a booking needs
The name the hotel is holding your room under, the hotel and the room number, or the street and door number at a private address. The date, the hour and the length. A first name or whatever you would like to be called, and the messaging account you wrote from.
That is the whole list. No date of birth, no home address, no employer, no documents and no payment information of any kind, because none of it is handled through this site.
Why it is needed
So that a woman travelling to an unfamiliar building late at night knows exactly who she is meeting and where. That is the only purpose and the information is used for nothing else.
It is not used for marketing. Nobody is added to a list, nobody is sent offers, and nobody who has not written to us first is ever contacted.
Who sees it
Iris, and the companion attending the booking. Nobody else, including the other companions in On The Route, and including any hotel, which is told nothing at all.
Nothing is sold, rented or passed to a third party for their own use. The only circumstance in which anything would be handed over is a lawful request from a UK authority, and that has to be a real one.
How long it is kept
Booking details are deleted within a short period after the evening, typically a few weeks, unless you have asked us to keep a preference so you do not have to repeat yourself next time.
Message threads live in WhatsApp and Telegram, which have their own retention and their own privacy notices, and are cleared down regularly at our end. Both services are used, so neither is the only way to reach the line.
Your rights, and how to use them
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be erased, and any of those is done promptly and without argument. The simplest way is one message to the same line you booked through.
If you are not satisfied with how a request was handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. What this website itself stores on your device is covered separately on the cookies page.
The last one
