About Karolina
Feltham empties out at seven, which is exactly when Karolina arrives. She is tall at 174 cm and slim, with a stillness that makes people lower their voices slightly. Her hair is long, black and absolutely straight, cut so that it moves in one piece, and her brown eyes are steady in a way that takes a little getting used to. She wears very little colour and almost no jewellery, and the effect is not cold so much as finished.
Late twenties, English speaking, economical with words. She does not fill silences and she does not expect anyone else to. What she offers instead is attention, complete and faintly unnerving, plus a dry remark roughly once every twenty minutes that is always worth the wait.
Her evenings out here are built around space rather than shops. Bedfont Lakes Country Park is a worked out gravel pit turned into water and reed beds, ten minutes from Feltham station and a world away from the roundabouts surrounding it, and she will walk the whole circuit at a pace that suits a conversation. Dinner afterwards is near the station or at one of the hotels along the Hounslow Road. She lives in Covent Garden, so this is a genuine journey for her: thirty minutes by train out of Waterloo, plus the walk at either end.

An evening with Karolina
Eight o'clock, and she does not arrive early or late. The lakes are best at the end of the day, when the last people with dogs have gone and the water holds the light longer than the sky does. A full circuit takes forty minutes and she will not rush it for anybody.
Dinner is somewhere unremarkable made considerably better by the company. She orders the same thing every time and has no interest in being teased about it. The talk is slow, dry and worth staying for. When the evening is finished she says one sentence, puts her coat on, and goes. People tend to remember that more clearly than anything else about the night. Nobody out here is in any hurry, and for three hours neither are you.

Only for people who need constant noise. I listen properly, which most people find they have not had in a while. If you want a performance, there are livelier women on this list and I would point you to them.
Q.02Why Bedfont Lakes?
Because it is two hundred acres of water and birds fifteen minutes from an airport, and almost nobody uses it after six. That combination does not exist anywhere else I know.

Long. I am slow to open and I have made peace with it. An hour with me is a waste of both our evenings.
