Raven haired: six names, and most of them start late
Six women here have hair that is black rather than the dark end of brown, and it is a colouring that behaves differently once the sun has gone. Under a hotel lamp it holds the light in one piece. On a wet high street at eleven at night it is the first thing anybody notices about a person.

Karolina is 174 cm and slim, cut so that her hair moves all at once, and she arrives at eight rather than six and will not be hurried around the lakes at Feltham. She is back on the second of October.
Milena is 175 cm and curvy, direct to a degree most people end up enjoying, and takes nine o'clock starts on the Cranford side of the Bath Road. Violetta is 178 cm, the tallest in the book, sleek and straight, and works long evenings and whole nights out of Isleworth.
The town centre and the roads behind it
Angelika is 172 cm and athletic, black hair worn loose because pinning it feels like effort for its own sake. She walks Lampton Park before dinner while there is light, then takes the evening wherever it wants to go, and the last Piccadilly train shapes the end of it rather than the middle.
Roxi is 168 cm and curvy, two minutes from Hounslow West station, and takes six o'clock starts out towards the Bath Road. She is the easiest name on this page to add to a plan at short notice.
The quiet one on the canal
Danielle is 170 cm and curvy, black hair worn straight, and she is the steady presence in any room she is in. Her Brentford evening begins an hour after a final whistle, when twelve thousand people have gone home and the Lock is water, brick and lit windows with nobody in it.

What black hair is not
It is not a temperament, whatever the shorthand suggests. Two of these six are the most talkative women in the book and two of them are the quietest. If you want reserved company, read the profiles rather than the colouring, and Iris will tell you plainly which of the six is which.
